A Little More About Howard
The Green Bay area was discovered in 1634 by Jean Nicolet, a French voyager. The Town of Howard was established in 1835 and slowly developed along the Duck Creek as a center for mail delivery, farming, quarrying and lumbering. By 1856, a school was operating and the Town of Howard became well known for its Duck Creek stone quarries.
By 1959, the population had grown and the Town of Howard became incorporated as the Village of Howard. Residential, commercial and industrial growth has steadily continued since that time, creating a dynamic suburban community on Green Bay's northwest side.
The Village of Howard is one of the premiere places to live in Northeast Wisconsin. Howard boasts one of the best school districts in Wisconsin (Howard-Suamico School District). Howard is also home to several corporate offices, including UnitedHealth Care (division of the UnitedHealth Group), N-Sight Communication, WIPFLI CPA & Consulting (regional corporate office) and the Green Bay branch of the ITT Technical Institute.
Howard also is recognized by having one of the preeminent Parks & Recreation programs for a community of less than 20,000 residents. With eleven (11) active or passive parks, a municipal golf course (Village Green), a recreation program that is second to none, a newer YMCA branch located in the village center and an active forestry department (14 consecutives years as a Tree City USA winner), Howard offers a superb quality of life that is hard to match.
A Little More About Suamico
Suamico is a growing, full service community and is characterized by its rural charm, including area of woodlands, farms, pastures, tastefully-designed rural subdivisions, and environmentally-sensitive areas. This diversity in the landscape, selection of quality building lots, superb schools, and beautiful local parks has attracted many long-term residents to the community. Suamico (pronounced swam ĭ kô) is a pleasant and secure place to live, raise a family, or just kick back and relax.
