So what are you looking for in your perfect part time job?
Making a difference in your community:
As a school bus driver, you have the opportunity to be a positive influence in the lives of young people. Your students will be excited to see you each morning on their ride to school, and you’ll cheer on the teams you drive to their games and activities. You can help make sure that each student on your bus starts their day off with smile.
Be trusted, not micromanaged:
We invest a lot of time and energy to train you and make sure you are a safe and responsible bus driver (Plus, we pay you during training, so you’re earning while you’re learning). Once you pass the tests and show us you’re ready, we trust you to do your job because we know you can do it. We also host several safety meetings each year so you can stay on top of your game.
Feel appreciated and valued:
Not every job has an entire week dedicated to appreciating the dedicated folks who work it each day. But outside of School Bus Driver Appreciation Week, the kids on your bus will let you know how much they value you with their smiles and stories each day.
Enjoy your co-workers:
You’ll develop camaraderie and friendship with the other drivers and office staff at your terminal. Each Lamers Bus Lines location is unique and reflects the community it serves.
Flexible, results oriented workplace:
As a school bus driver, you’ve got flexibility to work around your life. Can’t drive in the mornings? We’ll only assign you midday and afternoon routes. Want to earn extra money in the evenings? We’ll schedule you for after-school sport and activity trips. You’ll never be standing behind a register, waiting for the clock to run out so you can go home.
Security and stability:
In 2019, Lamers will be celebrating 75 years of bringing students to school, and our company is poised to grow again next year. We’re proud that we have more than 300 employees who have been with the company for 10 years or more — and many more approaching that milestone.
An employer that values family:
Parents and grandparents, just ask how you can bring your kids/grandkids on the bus with you, so you’re not paying for daycare while you work. We’re a family-owned company, run by the second generation Lamers family. In addition we have a number of third and fourth generation Lamers family members currently working within the company.
Successful school bus drivers will need:
- A Good Driving Record and a current driver’s license.
- At least 4 years of experience driving ANY vehicle.
- To be at least 21 years old.
- To pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Comprehensive, paid school bus CDL training program
- High hourly wages. Experience pays.
- Part time hours
- Child ride-along program for school bus route drivers
- 401(k) profit sharing programs
- Nights, weekends, holidays off for route drivers
- Afternoon, Evening and weekend charter work available
