Driver Training and Background Checks
Lamers Bus Lines performs thorough background checks on all applicants, to determine that they meet our minimum hiring standards. Lamers exceeds all State and Federal regulations in regards to background checks and driver qualifications. The background checks are repeated and reviewed annually to assure that our drivers continue to meet those standards.
Schools bus drivers participate in ongoing training. Each terminal conducts a minimum of five safety meetings per school year as a part of the continuous training process.
Lamers conducts evaluations of school bus drivers even after they are licensed. Manager and trainers ride along with drivers on route to rate the drivers performance. Our goal is always to provide the best skilled drivers on the road. In addition to Lamers evaluation, school bus drivers in Wisconsin must test to renew their school bus endorsement every 4 years. They must renew their CDL license every 8 years.
School Closings
School closings or delays are determined by the school district administration. Lamers assists our school districts by performing road evaluations and accumulating information on present road conditions and the anticipated weather forecast to help in the decision making process. The schools work to make this decision as early as possible in the morning so parents can make any necessary arrangements. Local TV and radio stations will provide a comprehensive list of school closings.
