Bunch of Boats & an Ark
5 Days / 4 Nights

Departure Date: June 10-14; Aug. 5-9

This morning we gather together and begin our journey through Wisconsin and into Indiana. We’ll pause for a quick lunch in Merrillville before continuing our journey along. We’re in route to cruise the Canals in a Indianapolis aboard a real Gondola. Sit back and let your imagination take you to Venice as you are serenaded by your Gondolier. Wonderful views of the city and charm of downtown Indianapolis surround you. After this unusual experience enjoy a light dinner at the quaint Fresco Italian Café. We continue our travels to Clarksville, IN and the Radisson Inn for our first overnight after a very busy yet fun day.

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel before the short drive to the Falls of the Ohio State Park Interpretive Center. Learn the history of the area from your guide and the importance of riverboats at this beautiful facility overlooking the Falls of the Ohio River. After our tour climb aboard the Captain’s Quarters Private Yacht for your luncheon cruise. Today is a day of boats and plying various waters of Kentucky.

Later we do a complete 180 as we switch from a sleek smooth yacht to the history of a riverboat. The Dixie Belle River Boat offers spectacular views of the Kentucky River and its lovely palisade cliffs. We check into the Hampton Inn, Lexington, KY for a brief freshen up before heading to dinner at the locally famous Chop House.

We have a great day in store today. The highlight attraction is in Williamstown, home of The Ark Encounter. This is a full-sized replica of the largest wooden timber structure in the world. The fabled Ark is 510 feet long and more than 50 feet tall before the sail is added with hundreds of displays, including mock-ups of animal stalls, recreations of how Noah and his family may have lived, and even an animatronic version of Noah. It offers the same quality of Universal Studios and is one of a kind in the world.

Lunch is on your own in the enormous 2000 seat cafeteria. Later finds us at the Hillforest Mansion. This home overlooking the Ohio River was built for a local shipping magnate in 1855. It is beautifully appointed and reflects the opulence of the era right down to the suspended staircase which was patterned after grand salons of elaborate riverboats of the time. After checking into our hotel, the Holiday Inn Riverfront, Cincinnati, OH we depart for a fun-filled evening on the Queen City Riverboat. Live entertainment and fine dining with a glass of wine included will make for a great end to the touring day.

Enjoy a full breakfast buffet this morning before getting back on board the bus enroute to the nearby Piqua Historic Site. Adjacent to a reconstructed section of the Miami-Erie Canal this former Shawnee Indian Village has many sights to see and explore.

Most importantly we’re here to ride a horse-drawn canal boat where we will learn more about the history of the village the canal. Starting our return we make tracks to Warsaw, IN and the Wyndham Garden Inn. Tonight we have a farewell dinner at the nearby Boathouse Restaurant with a beautiful view of Lake Winona.

Our final touring day is upon us and we’re soon back on the coach heading to our last attraction. The Dixie is the oldest sternwheel paddleboat in Indiana. Our cruise takes us around Lake Webster with our captain narrating the points of interest that are numerous on the lake. We hope you enjoyed your bunch of boats tour and the amazing creation of the Ark Encounter.
