Our fall trip showcases the farming heritage of the land and the rich history of the area. We begin our morning with a stop at Pine River Dairy. Run by the sixth generation Olm family. We have a chance to watch them make their famous flavored butters and later to purchase some of the 250 varieties of cheese they sell in their retail gift store. (Please bring a small cooler for any goodies you want to stay cold.)
Our next stop is the new Farm Wisconsin Discovery. This 29,000 sq.ft. center has hands–on learning opportunities dedicated to the discovery of where food comes from, how its produced and who produces it. See the birthing area where calves are born, ride a bus thru a local farm and shop in their country store showcasing Wisconsin products.
Our included lunch will be served on-site at their Farm Wisconsin banquet room, and afterwards you’ll enjoy a scoop of Cedar Crest Ice Cream for your dessert treat. This center will help you understand how family farms are part of our ag history and the future to Wisconsin and the world.
Lastly, we travel to Mishicot, a local village in Manitowoc County to shop at the Lakeside Country Store. The store carries a full line of bulk foods, baking supplies, spices, snacks and Amish foods such as jams and jellies. You’ll be able to stock up on your holiday baking supplies at reasonable prices. So come along on this fall agriculture adventure with Lamers.
