Travel with us to the historic village of Greendale on the south side of Milwaukee, which is known as the best blooming town in the country. You will see more than 40,000 flowers planted along the downtown streets in beds, planters and baskets.
A local tour guide will join us on the folk art chimney tour. There are 200 one-of-a-kind chimneys painted with folk art designs by a local artist. You’ll hear some stories on the select chimney’s and why the design was chosen by the owner. They will share stories of this “Greenbelt Town” during the great depression and their “Roosevelt Roots” along with homes known as “Backward Houses” along on the tour.
After our tour, we have an included lunch at Ferch’s Malt Shoppe & Grille. Their main goal is to bring all of their customers back in time to when life was simpler. Ferch’s evokes a different era, with a soda fountain, tin ceilings and a big Wurlitzer jukebox. After lunch, there will be time for shopping in Greendale’s unique shops & boutiques. Then we return to Ferch’s for an included make your own custard sundae.
Our last stop is at the Chudnow Museum of Yesteryear which contains various shops and exhibits from the 1920’s and 1930’s era all housed in a building built in 1869.
So come along today and see why Greendale is often called “The Jewel of Milwaukee’s Suburbs.”
