Holiday Magic in Antioch
Thursday, December 2, 2021
Package Price: $96 per person
Enjoy a spectacular holiday tour as we travel to the village of Antioch, Illinois located just past the Wisconsin and Illinois border. During the Holiday Season this town is transformed into a Charles Dickens era.
Upon arrival we meet our docent at the Kringle’s Christmas Village Indoor Showroom. This holiday décor was part of the city of Zion for thirteen years before being donated to Antioch. Displayed are about 50 Six-foot shadow boxes which are sometimes compared to the Marshall Field’s holiday display windows along Chicago’s State Street. The lit up holiday boxes are animated and have detailed miniature scenes and themes. Some themes on exhibit are a beauty shop that caters to reindeer and a “Kneeling Santa” in front of the Christ child.
The Dickens Holiday Village will be on display also at this time. This includes about 50 hand-crafted wooden Dickens era characters that are life size mannequins. They are decorated with apparel for each character they represent. Each character has a plaque describing the scene and serves as an educational tool for this time period. The mannequins are located around town and some are in an indoor showroom.
We’ll enjoy an included lunch at Lovin’ Oven Cakery & Café while listening to live holiday music! There will also be time to browse in their Historic Shopping District. So take a step back in time to this charming town of Antioch which began over 175 years ago!
