Today we can’t wait to experience this fun annual event as we make our way through Illinois, Indiana and into Michigan, skirting the shores of Lake Michigan as we go. Finish this full day of touring with an evening live stage performance (TBA). During our time in Holland our accommodations will be at the centrally located Country Inn & Suites.
DAY TWO — CB, D
This morning, we are formally introduced to this lovely community as a local guide joins us for a narrated sightseeing drive. We will learn of its Dutch heritage and view lovely tulip lanes as we meander. Later we find our reserved bleacher seats to watch the traditional and delightful annual parade. See the colorful floats and listen to the marching bands from local schools.
This afternoon, marvel at the expansive beauty of Veldheer Tulip Gardens. Here you will see many unusual varieties of tulip bulbs and even have an opportunity to order them for planting back home. Talk with the craftsmen as they carve the national shoe at De Klomp’s Wooden Shoe Factory. Don’t be shy about trying a pair on! Enjoy watching skilled artist’s hand-paint the famous blue and white delftware just as it was produced in the Netherlands. We finish our day with a visit to the Dutch Village and an included dinner.
DAY THREE — CB, L
Our final day in Holland starts with a visit to Windmill Island where we can inspect the 200-year-old De Zwaan working windmill. Enjoy the beauty of thousands of tulips planted on the grounds and along the dikes just like you would see in Old World. The afternoon passes quickly as we retrace our route home, reflecting on our fun-filled tour of the annual Holland Tulip Festival.
