The House on the Rock
Tuesday, October 6, $176 (1:4) / $226 (1:1) (SNHR50)
Take in the view of the scenic Alex Jordan’s retreat built atop a chimney of rock that opened to the public in 1960. The retreat was only the beginning. Alex used to explain his sprawling creation of collections, displays and galleries by saying that “one thing just sort of led to another.”
Since those early days, the world Alex Jordan created has grown far beyond the Original House and into an attraction with many buildings that contain eclectic, exotic and whimsical exhibits and displays.
On our self-guided tour you will explore some of the most unique collections including the world’s largest carousel, a 200-foot model sea creature, automated music machines and much more. The carousel at the House on the Rock features 269 carousel animals, 182 chandeliers, over 20,000 lights, and hundreds of angels hanging from the ceiling.
The Infinity Room juts out 218 feet from the original house without any supports underneath. Plus, it has over 3,000 windows. Come with us to explore this amazing place! En route home we will stop for an included dinner.
Please Note: Travelers will have to walk on uneven surfaces and walk long distances at a time inside the house.
