What a great combination – exciting Toronto and the world-famous natural beauty of Niagara Falls. Our travels today will take us around the southern end of Lake Michigan to Dearborn, MI for our next two overnights. We are staying at the Courtyard by Marriott.
DAY — CB, D
Our day begins with a visit to The Henry Ford Museum. This complex consists of the Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village and the Ford Rouge Factory. We start with the factory tour. This self-guided tour begins with a theater presentation about the factory, a multi-sensory experience explaining how vehicles are built, a trip to the observation deck to view the largest living roof and a walking tour of the plant. We spend the day at The Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village, the nation’s largest indoor/outdoor history museum. This evening we will enjoy a delightful dinner at the Union Street Grill.
DAY 3 — CB, L
This morning we cross the international border into Canada on our way to Toronto. Canada’s largest city, Toronto is considered a global city because of its finance and culture. After lunch, we will be joined by a local guide for a tour of this cosmopolitan city. Later we stop at the signature icon of Toronto’s skyline – the CN Tower. Built as a communications and observation tower, it is the tallest free-standing in North America. Our overnight accommodations are in downtown Toronto at the Holiday Inn Downtown Centre. Perhaps some shopping at Eaton Centre is in a good idea today?
DAY 4 — B, L
Discover a 40-room Italianate-style villa built in the 1830s and the former site of a fortified military encampment established by the British in 1813. Dundurn Castle was home to Sir Allan Napier MacNab, railway magnate, lawyer and Premier of the United Canadas. Explore elegantly furnished suites, secret passageways, stately towers and an 800-foot tunnel leading to massive stables and coach house. Late morning finds us traveling to Niagara Falls stopping for lunch at the Skylon Tower, the tallest structure overlooking the falls. View the presentation of “Niagara Falls” at the IMAX Theater for breathtaking views of this natural wonder. Tonight check into the Clifton Victoria Inn for a two night stay.
DAY 5 — CB
This morning get acquainted with the area with our local guide as he narrates this part of our country including the beautiful Niagara Parkway. Our afternoon finds us at the face of the falls aboard the Hornblower Cruise. The balance of our day will be free for independent exploration.
DAY 6 — CB, D
We leave Niagara Falls heading west across the international border back to the United States. Later we arrive in the Bavarian city of Frankenmuth. Following a local tour of this quaint city and some shopping time at Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland, we will enjoy their famous chicken dinner at the Bavarian Inn. Our final night out will be in Frankenmuth at the European-style Bavarian Inn Lodge.
DAY 7 — CB, L
Bidding farewell to our fellow travelers, we return home with great memories.
