The Nutcracker
Sunday December 11, 2022
Package Price: $136 per person

The Nutcracker was first presented 123 years ago in St. Petersburg, Russia on December 17, 1892. Peter Tchaikovsky, the famous Russian composer was commissioned to compose the ballet. The first performance in the USA was in 1944. 20 years later the San Jose Dance Theatre brought it’s own version to the Bay Area and has been producing it every December for 51 consecutive years.

It’s Christmas Eve 1830 and a little girl named Clara at a party sees a Ballerina Doll and wants it. She is refused but given a Nutcracker instead. Her brother breaks it. They use an enchanted scarf to repair the Nutcracker. Later at night she is sleeping with the Nutcracker when she is frightened by large and small mice. The Nutcracker defeats the Mouse King and gets introduced to the Snow King.

This magical, whimsical ballet captures the imaginations of young and old alike. Come and see the rest of the story played out before you in true magical dance!
