Special Needs Tour: Door County Maritime Museum
Wednesday, August 18, 2021
Package Price Per Person: $135 (1:4) / $177 (1:1)
We head to the heart of historic Sturgeon Bay to Door County Maritime Museum, where we explore the history of shipbuilding in Wisconsin. Here we have a 90-minute docent-guided tour through their 22,000 square-foot museum. See four beautiful galleries dedicated to the rich maritime history of Door County. Galleries include displays about shipbuilding, lighthouses and their keepers, scaled models, model makers, outboard motors, the raising of the George Humphrey and their most recent exhibit, Shipwrecks of Door County.
Enjoy an all-access, 40-minute guided tour of the Tug John Purves, an incredibly restored Great Lakes tugboat. Explore the entire 149-foot tug, from engine room to crew cabins, galley and wheelhouse, and get a feel for the daily life of her hard-working 13-man crew.
Next, we enjoy an included Pizza and Salad Buffet at Sonny’s Italian Kitchen and Pizzeria. Their pizzas are made with the freshest ingredients and are baked in a stone oven with a wood fire. We have a little time to shop in Sturgeon Bay before heading home.
Departure Locations: Green Bay Area, Menasha, Oshkosh
